I've looked at a few cars and I keep coming back to two. The Mini Cooper and the Toyota Prius, both are good on safety and cost about the same. But one looks way better [Cooper] and the other gets insane gas mileage. Should I even consider getting a non-hybrid car given how high gas is reported to go?

Gas Mileage [highway/city]:

Mini Cooper - 28/37

Prius - 48/45

42% better/18% better

I mean how much money would I be saving a year? Because I know that repair costs on a hybrid are more...in theory, it might just level out over time...and I'm doing mostly "city" driving actually...

Do I agree with the man who is above me?. Also when the Prius battery dies and you have to pay 2 grand for a new one, there goes all your saved gas money!

I drove the Prius. It is a boring car to drive. It has a smooth and quiet ride and the battery needs to be replaced every 3-7 years. That costs $3000.

The Mini Cooper is much more fun to drive and faster. It also handles better and looks better. It will be cheaper in the long run.
