Where you buy a car is something to think about? Would you buy a car site unseen? From China?

Or would you buy a car imported to a dealership?

What are the risks involved?

I would buy a car from a dealership here where I can see it and test drive it. The Nissan Leaf looks reasonable and affordable. Tesla's are too expensive still. And I am sure in the future there will be more affordable electric cars.

Model X of Tesla (starting price of $69,500 vs $79,500) and will offer roughly 300 miles of range on a single charge across variants.

don't spend too much money on your first electric car.

later you use the car you shall find the advantage and disadvantage of electric car.

then you must try to exchange your car for next level car.

To me, volts do not qualify as a true electric car. This fits more in a hybrid category. An electric car should only run the battery. Some of the things that have a gasoline engine are not an electric vehicle.
